Last Weekend in August
Before I knew it, summer vacation had come to an end, and so had my internship. Honestly, I feel like time really flew by, but I guess that’s a good thing! I really think working is way more exhausting than going to school—workplace relationships are complicated, and the mismatch in personnel is seriously bad. But well, I’ve escaped the sea of suffering!
August 28 was a very important day in my career journey: my very first internship came to a perfect end. So, my boyfriend and I went to a place we had picked out earlier to celebrate properly! On a side note, I really like eating seafood, while my boyfriend doesn’t. We went to eat oysters 🦪!
When we arrived, we ordered a serving of fried calamari rings (see photo 1) and two sets of six oysters each with a cocktail (see photos 2 and 3). The server was very friendly, the service was great, and the food came out quickly. Definitely worth a try!

These fried calamari rings weren’t coated in a heavy batter; with every bite, you got that springy, chewy calamari. Paired with the “white boy ranch,” it was simply top-notch. Not greasy at all, making it a great appetizer.

We each ordered the 6 Oysters and a Drink set, and the oysters were from Prince Edward Island (PEI). The restaurant provided a whole tray of sauces, so you could mix and match according to your taste. I tried every single sauce, but I still felt that Tabasco paired best with the oysters.
Also, the horseradish was delicious—it’s that mound surrounded by lemon that looks like cheese. It’s not cheese but horseradish, with a taste quite similar to wasabi! If you haven’t tried it before, give it a go!

The cocktail I started with was called Pink Whitney, named after a hockey player. He loves this refreshing lemon-based drink, which is perfect for summer.
After that, we ordered another oyster set along with fried fish tacos (see photo 4). This time, I passed on the Pink Whitney and chose a Shaft instead (see photo 5).

The tacos were more filling than we expected, especially with that big piece of fried fish. The fish was freshly fried, crispy, yet not greasy. After my boyfriend and I finished the tacos, we were about 70% full. But our “second stomach” wasn’t satisfied yet.

Then came another cocktail—but you couldn’t taste the alcohol at all, which makes it kind of dangerous?! It was just like an iced latte; without being told, you’d think it was coffee. This drink paired perfectly with the crème brûlée.

Our second stomach was finally satisfied! The crème brûlée was truly delicious. The caramel had that crisp crunch, blending with the soft custard—absolutely perfect!
I’m really grateful to have my boyfriend celebrate the end of my internship with me, and even more grateful that the food was so amazing!
